We are delighted to announce that our partners in Thailand were the deserved and proud recipients of five (5) 2011 Thailand Boutique Awards recognizing their efforts to promote sustainable tourism in Thailand. The prestigious Thailand Boutique Awards were created by the Krungthai Card Company and Krungthep Turakij Newspaper with Master Card International, the Institute for Small, Medium Enterprises Development (ISMED) and Nok Airlines to recognize small and medium boutique hotel design concept innovators and the promotion of this important niche in Thailand's accommodation sector. The lodges Lisu Lodge and Lanjia Lodge our selected accommodation choices featured in our “TEAK TREK” both received the Gold Awards for 'Thematic Ideas and Culture' in the mountain accommodation category. The Lisu Lodge near Chiang Mai and the Lanjia Lodge outside of Chiang Rai also received the Silver Award, the highest award offered this year in the category of 'Green Nature and Environment'. In addition, the Lanjia Lodge received the prestigious 'Outstanding Thematic and Culture' award.
These awards further endorse Aston Garcia Tours commitment to offer our guests experiences in rural Thai life that are fascinating and real, as well as ecologically, environmentally and culturally sensitive. Our partners have embraced many of the design elements of the Akha, Lahu, Lisu and Hmong people, and incorporated them into the designs of their lodges, thus reflecting the rich traditions of the remarkable hill tribe communities in which they are located. To be recognized and honoured at the 2011 Thailand Boutique Awards for their designs and efforts in preserving and promoting the heritage and traditions of these wonderfully unique and culturally rich communities is something they are extremely grateful and proud of.
Since they were founded in 2007, based on more than 30 years of travel experience in Thailand, Lisu Lodge and Lanjia Lodge were built on the belief that experiencing local culture at its origins is the only way to truly understand and appreciate that culture.
